PROJECTS #1 & 2 - Barn Windows
I went to a wedding during the summer that took place in an old rustic barn, and used lattice windows for a lot of the decorations. Then I went home to my parent's farm and found a bunch of old windows that used to be in the barn, and were just waiting to become an heirloom in my house. Ryan and I have moved a lot in our four years of marriage, and we've always lived in an apartment. We haven't really had much inspiration, or space for decoration! Our current place is definitely our cutest and nicest place. We're not quite sure how long we'll be here, but we decided we wanted to make it look like a home. So here's what we did.
We picked out some windows. There were several already down in the barn, but I had Ryan take a nine-pane window down because it was the coolest. We also grabbed a green six-pane one. He power-washed them and they were looking pretty good! (I deleted these pics a long time ago I think... oops)! Once we brought them back to our place, we went to hobby lobby to find materials for a wreath, the perfect G, and hooks. Here's what we ended up with.
Ryan fastened the wreath to the window with plastic fasteners. We bought the wreath plain and picked out a few fall-looking accents to give it some style. Planning on changing either the whole wreath or just the flowers according to the seasons.
I knew I wanted the other window as some kind of coat hanger. We bought the hooks/pegs at Hobby Lobby and Ryan screwed them in. I am currently testing it out as a calendar. If I am diligent enough to change it every week, I'll make sure the letters look much nicer.
PROJECTS #3 - Felt Christmas Tree for Toddlers
The whole reason I joined Pinterest in the first place was to find some Christmas DIY stuff. I started with an easy felt tree for Parker. I'll post more pictures of him playing with it once it's Christmas. I just finished cutting and gluing everything and had to test it out ;) This will hang on the wall with 3m tape and the felt ornaments stick to the felt tree. I'm hoping Parker will want to do it again and again. Everything was bought at Hobby Lobby. I think I spent $10!
